Root Nerds recommends Heat Pack Version 2 settings 35-42C when using GermiPad. The default Heat Pack setting will not properly warm the larger GermiPad area.
To help ensure the best performance and lifespan of Heat Pack, we recommend using Apple brand power adapters for accurate, consistent voltage.
Use USB-C cords that are 3 feet or less in length. Longer cords may cause voltage loss, which can affect Heat Pack performance.
Heat Pack defaults to 27°C. However, based on our testing and comparison with previous models, the current PC board manufacturer appears to calibrate using different equipment. As a result, the default setting may perform closer to approximately 26°C.
During our testing:
In a 72°F (22°C) room with ambient light and no fans:
- Heat Pack set to 35°C produced a GermiPad surface temperature of approximately 28–30°C (82–86°F).
- Heat Pack set to 42°C produced a GermiPad surface temperature of approximately 30–33°C (86–91°F).
In a 68°F (20°C) room:
- Heat Pack set to 35°C produced a GermiPad surface temperature of approximately 27–29°C (81–84°F)
- Heat Pack set to 42°C produced a GermiPad surface temperature of approximately 29–32°C (84–90°F).
Actual surface temperatures may vary depending on ambient room temperature, airflow, lighting, placement, and other environmental conditions.
